CLA Deputy President William Worsley to speak at tree safety conference
CLA Deputy President William Worsley is to speak at the Tree Management for Public Safety conference on 29 May - partly developed by the CLA.
The Country Land and Business Association is supporting the conference which aims to discuss the issues surrounding tree management, particularly dangerous roadside trees.
Delegates will have the chance to play a role in changing the approach to tree risk.
Mr Worsley said: "The voice of forest owners and managers needs to be heard in the debate on managing the risks of roadside trees.
"The conference provides a chance both to understand the current situation following the Poll and Asquith case* and to input into developing a more sensible way forward."
The conference is supported by CLA and The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Arboricultural Association among other organisations.
Mr Worsley added: "While it is sponsored by the Forestry Commission, it is not a Government initiative but a way of bringing together the industry to work on the development of a practical and cost-effective solution to this problem.
"I would encourage any CLA member worried about this to attend if they can."
The conference is to take place at the Royal Geographical Society, Hyde Park, Kensington, London, on 29 May. For booking details and booking, see:
