Combine winner looks forward to big capacity
Delighted New Holland customer, Mr John Seward, has won a brand new CX8060 combine to use for twelve months, in a competition during a trip to New Holland's European combine production plant in Zedelgem, Belgium. The competition, which asked participants to guess the total number of combines produced by the plant since its opening, formed part of the production facility's centenary celebrations.
"I was amazed when I found out I had won," said Mr Seward. "I chatted with fellow farmers on the return home from the celebrations and thought my guess was a long way out, but I proved to be closest to the mark."
Mr Seward farms more than 1000 acres, and a further 400 acres under contract, near Chesterfield, Derbyshire with his two sons. The mixed farm fattens between 300 and 350 bulls each year, as well as supporting a 200-strong dairy herd on the wheat, barley and oil seed rape grown.
"The new combine will give us greater capacity and therefore greater flexibility," explains Mr Seward. "Up until now we have been restricted to a five strawwalker combine due to small parcel of land that can only be accessed by a narrow bridge. Before the CX8060, we ran a CX740 because of the narrower wheelbase, but with the land replaced by a more accessible area, we can now move up to a six strawwalker combine.

"I was given the choice of any combine model, but the CX8060 was the natural one for me, as we have been delighted with the performance of the CX740. New Holland combines have a reputation for reliability and I am looking forward to the extra power and capacity of this new machine.
"We use all the straw for the livestock and the high straw quality from the CX is what makes it so popular in mixed-farming operations like ours."
W Seward and Sons has been a long-time customer of the New Holland brand and, although under no obligation to keep the combine, has already agreed with their local dealer, Platts, to purchase the CX8060 after the initial one-year free ownership.
"Service and support from both Platts and New Holland over the years have always been exemplary. I like their professional and personable style, so keeping the CX8060 on a permanent basis was an easy decision to make," said Mr Seward.
