Cooking the best of local produce at EasterFest 2007

A cookery theatre is being staged for the first time at the annual EasterFest organised by Kelly Turkeys at Springate Farm, Danbury, on Good Friday (April 6).

Paul Kelly has invited Jimmy Doherty, from the Essex Pig Company, and Richard Emans, of the Maldon Oyster Company, to join him in demonstrating recipes with turkey, pork and oyster products — and then provide an opportunity for tasting.

Now in its third year, the event is supported by a growing number of local food producers with 14 stands mainly from Essex and Suffolk. It is a family event with attractions for the children, including chicks hatching, and last year the attendance was estimated at between 800 and 1000.

"As well as a fun day out, it's a good opportunity for families to purchase some of the best of local food of all kinds for the holiday weekend," says Philip Regan, sales manager of Kelly Turkeys.
