Criminals have used a tractor to ram a cash machine in a petrol station in Lincolnshire over the weekend.

The Jet Petrol Station, on Newark Road in South Hykeham was targeted in the early hours of Saturday morning (December 16).

The incident happened around 3am in the early hours of Saturday morning. The station manager told Lincolnshire Live that a member of staff and police officer were on the scene at 5:30am.

Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged of the tractor smashing into the cash machine.

Station manager Muneer Fareed said: "We still don't know if they managed to take any money, we'll have to get the card company to come out to investigate further and try to get it back up and running if it can be fixed.

"This is the first time this has happened to us, and it was a bit of a shock.

"I've had to be here today to help the police, I'm just glad that they didn't manage to take the cash machine."

The tractor was eventually returned back to its owner.

The NFU has previously warned that farmers should not be seen as a 'soft target' for criminals. A survey by NFU Mutual showed 56% of respondents have been a victim of rural crime in the past 12 months.
