Crowds out for Louth's Boxing Day Hunt

HUNDREDS of onlookers and around 50 horses and riders gathered at Louth's cattle market for South Wold Hunt's Boxing Day meeting.

Hounds, horses and their masters were put to the test on a trail leading them from Louth through Hallington and the surrounding countryside.

Hunt master Nick Ashcroft said: "It's the most we've had for several years."

He said it was especially good as many of the regular riders were away for Christmas.

Mr Ashcroft said: "The streets outside the market were absolutely jam packed. It was absolutely wonderful."

Preparations for the hunt mean Mr Ashcroft and his colleagues have a very busy Christmas Day with just a couple of hours off for lunch.
