Dairy conference highlights yield as cornerstone of future profitability

Sustaining high yields through advanced nutrition will be the main theme for a one-day dairy farmer conference being staged by feed specialist Alltech at three venues this autumn.

Speakers at the second annual +1000Plus road show will include NMR's Mike Blanshard and farm manager Oliver Howe who runs a 280-cow high yielding herd in Hampshire. Providing an international flavour at the event will be USA-based veterinary surgeon Dr Simon Timmermans and dairy nutrition and management researcher Jud Heinrichs from Pennsylvania State University. Alltech's own UK ruminant technical manager David Wilde will also be presenting a paper on natural solutions to the three major production diseases of mastitis, infertility and lameness.

The programme for the event includes dates in Cumbria (Shepherds Inn and The Auctioneer, Carlisle, 14th October); Shropshire (Harper Adams College on 15th October); and Somerset (Royal Bath & West Showground, 16th October). Attendance is free for dairy farmers.
