Dales meat set for national marketSource

FARMERS in the Yorkshire Dales are launching a new company to market their beef and lamb nationally.

Dales Quality Meat Company is founded, owned and supplied by farmers in Wensleydale.

It will launch at the Dales Festival of Food and Drink, which starts in Leyburn on Saturday (3 May).

The company, which aims to make Dales beef and lamb the choice of cooks and food lovers around the UK, has been established with the assistance of a Rural Enterprise Scheme grant from Defra.

The project is a joint venture between The Dales Quality Meat Company (DQM), its parent Hawes Farmers' Auction Mart and McIntyre Meats Abattoir at Bainbridge.
