Director of the NFU Brussels office speaks at Carnmarthenshire County Conference

The Director of the NFU office in Brussels, Maeve Whyte, will be guest speaker at the NFU Cymru Carmarthenshire County Conference on Wednesday, 23 January 2008.

Held at the Ivy Bush Royal Hotel, Carmarthen at 7.30pm, NFU Cymru members are invited to listen to Maeve Whyte and will have the opportunity to take part in a question and answer discussion.

The NFU office in Brussels gathers information and intelligence on the progress of law making in Brussels and lobbies on behalf of the NFU to all three institutions there – the EU Commission, European Parliament and the Council of Ministers.

The Director, in her presentation, will cover how the EU works, what the NFU does for Welsh farmers in Brussels and what will be the main policy issues in 2008.

Incoming NFU Cymru Carmarthenshire County Chairman, Bernard Llewellyn said, "We are very grateful to Maeve for agreeing to come and speak at the conference. I hope we will get a good turnout of local NFU Cymru members. Please also encourage your friends and neighbours to come along."

NFU Cymru President, Dai Davies, will also provide an update on agricultural issues at the meeting.
