Do the hot potato...
Dancing the hot potato may look easier than growing them these days, if you take a look at the impact of the new Single Payment Scheme on growers and landowners.
From next year, land owners must have land at their disposal for at least 10 months to claim the single payment. And growers must have an authorisation to be able to secure payment for land used to grow any fruit, vegetables or potatoes.
It’s a scheme that seems to set interests of growers and landowners at loggerheads, but there’s help on hand.
On Monday 9th August, agricultural lawyers Roythornes, the NFU panel lawyers across the eastern counties of England, will be grabbing hold of this particular hot potato and explaining ways to approach the problem with an evening seminar being held at the East of England showground in Peterborough.
Roythornes will be joined by farm business consultants at Andersons at the seminar and together they will be fielding a team of experts in law, business planning and finance.
Lawyers Roythorne & Co employs 165 people across its offices in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk and is consistently at the top of the rankings for legal expertise in agricultural and estates work in the east of England.
