Dry bean growers elect new officers

The Northarvest Bean Growers Association Board of Directors elected Jon Ewy of Deer Creek, Minn., as president when the boad met in Fargo on March 14 for their annual meeting.

Other officers elected included Don Streifel of Washburn, N.D., vice-president; Todd Sorenson of Fisher, Minn., treasurer.

Additional directors include Alan Juliuson, Hope, N.D.; Joe Mauch, Hankinson, N.D.; Mark Myrdal, Edinburg, N.D.; Gary Paur, Gilby, N.D.; Mark Streed, Milan, Minn.; and Daniel Webster, Penn, N.D. Officers hold one-year terms and are eligible for two terms.

The Northarvest Bean Growers Association oversees dry edible bean research and promotion for growers in North Dakota and Minnesota. The Association Directors are elected by growers in each of the 9 Northarvest Districts.

Schaan named noxious weed specialist


Blake J. Schaan has been appointed as a noxious weed specialist in the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, according to North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Roger Johnson, who made the appointment.
