Eastern European buyers at Shrewsbury auction

Buyers from Eastern Europe and Ireland attended a successful plant and agricultural machinery collective sale at Shrewsbury Auction Centre earlier this month.

Auctioneers Halls were delighted with the 90 per cent clearance rate of the 1,200 lots, with harvesting and baling equipment in great demand. There was also a noticeable increase in online bids at the auction.

’The Eastern European and Irish buyers were particularly interested in genuine, straight off the farm machinery,’ said auctioneer Nick Hyne, Shrewsbury Auction Centre manager.

’As you would expect at this time of the year, there was a very good trade in harvesting and baling equipment.’

He appealed for more entries of plant for the next sale on Friday, August 5 to meet growing demand.

Top prices at the auction were: ’8,600 for a Welgar RP202 baler, ’6,200 for a Richard Weston 10 tonne rear discharge spreader, ’5,800 for a Kuhn power harrow, ’5,200 for a Ford 8240 tractor, ’5,000 for a Major Eagle Wing topper and ’4,300 for a New Holland Compact tractor.
