Egg producer engages with Welsh rugby stars to launch 'The Full Team'
Freedom Eggs, the specialist free-range egg company based in South Wales, has joined together with the Welsh Rugby Union to launch ’The Full Team’, a special edition box of 15 eggs designed to feed active families and rugby stars of the future.
The development of The Full Team was inspired by the staff’s love of Welsh rugby and listings are now rolling out across Tesco and Spar in Wales to celebrate the Six Nations tournament and St David’s Day on 1 March.
The pack features 15 free-range eggs of different sizes, reflecting the diversity needed to make up a winning rugby team. The launch of The Full Team marks the first such strategic partnership for Freedom Eggs and is also the first licensing agreement between the WRU and the food industry.
David Cooknell, marketing manager at Freedom Eggs says: "The launch of The Full Team demonstrates our ability to innovate in the egg category and, in this case, tune into the passions of active families across Wales during the Six Nations.
"We’ve worked closely with the WRU’s squad nutritionist Jon Williams to develop this product so when mums buy The Full Team for their families, they’ll be enjoying the same eggs that the nation’s best rugby players will be eating in the build up to the big games.
"Our research shows that products and services endorsed by the national rugby team are highly motivating to Welsh consumers, particularly those with school age children. We’re confident that The Full Team will help kick off a new surge of sales for our eggs in Wales."
All the eggs used in The Full Team are sourced from small flocks of hens kept on family-run farms in Wales that provide the birds with the highest standards of welfare.
