EU Orders Finland to Boost Renewable Energy

The EU says Finland must increase its use of renewable energy, but to a lesser extent than EU countries on average.

According to information obtained by YLE, 38 percent of Finland's energy must come from renewable energy forms by 2020. The EU Commission will publish its official proposal on energy policy next week.

The plan also calls for carbon emissions from transport and farming to be lowered by 16 percent from 2005 levels.
