European role for NFU livestock board member
NFU livestock board member Andy Foot has been elected vice chairman of the European agricultural umbrella organisation’s beef working party.
Foot, a fifth generation farmer on a 250ha beef and arable farm in Dorset, will take up his new role on the Copa-Cogeca Group with immediate effect.
His main priority will be to achieve a good result for beef farmers from the current CAP reform negotiations.
Foot, who also chairs the NFU Beef Group, said: “I am delighted to be voted in as the group’s new vice chairman. I would like to thank my predecessor Alistair Mackintosh for his sterling work in representing beef producers in the UK and across the EU and I aim to pick up where he left off.
“I am passionate about a productive, profitable and sustainable beef industry in the EU and as well as CAP, I will be looking to increase the role of research and innovation in agriculture and promoting red meat within the EU and to third world countries.”
