THREATEN WTO ACTION.

The EU has threatened WTO action over the US beef hormone sanctions, as the US have imposed new tariffs’ on the EU in retaliation.

In a omission statement released this week it said, " It is clear that this move by the US administration means that we will have no choice other than to prepare to take this matter to the WTO".

Washington imposed new tariff’s on European Union goods in retaliation to an EU ban on US hormone treated beef and chlorine washed poultry.

US tariffs have tripled in some cases one example is French cheese.

The saga has been going on since 1996 with no sign of any compromise or resolution by either side.

Trade Commissioner Catherine Ashton said in a statement, "A large number of EU exporters will be hit by these illegal sanctions. We look forward to working with the new administration to address this situation".
