Farmer-friendly policies needed to increase agri outputs
Sartaj Aziz, chairman of the Advisory Group of International Food Policy Research Institute, has said Pakistan can not increase agriculture production unless farmer-friendly policies are introduced.
He said irrigation and distribution of wheat system should be improved to take Pakistan on the path of self-reliance in food production.
Addressing a meeting in Pakistan Agriculture Research Institute, the former federal finance minister suggested that government should abolish sales tax on fertiliser so that the farmers could get them at cheaper rates.
He said Pakistan should modernise the agriculture research system for the prosperity and rapid development of the country.
