Farmers frustrated about dealing with predators
Red tape and gun registration have farmers frustrated about dealing with increasing numbers of predators.
Federation of Agriculture president Robert Emerson wants Bruce County Council to review its bounty bylaw and streamline the compensation process when livestock is lost to wolves and coyotes.
A suggestion that farmers take care of the problem by shooting predators on their land doesn't work that easily, Emerson said.
"Many farmers no longer have the guns for predator control," he said. "When long gun registration came in they had them destroyed."
