Farming experts unsure what impact recent court ruling will have on industry

Peach grower Kai Wiens doesn’t know how a court ruling allowing agricultural workers to unionize will influence life down on the farm.

But he can’t imagine how his relationship with 20 or so Jamaican employees could get any better, with or without collective bargaining. Some of the workers have been with him in Niagara-on-the-Lake for 15 seasons -one man since the 1970s.

"I have a great relationship with my employees, so I’m not worried about my off-shore (workers)," said Wiens, who receives cards from former workers with updates on their families.
