Fengrain plans for growth on track at half year

Leading East Anglian grain specialists Fengrain has seen significant growth in its membership after six months of its financial year and the company has ambitious plans grow in future.

"The half year figures show that our membership has increased by over 100 in the first six months of this financial year. This represents some 90,000 extra tonnes of grain," says Chief Executive Mark Isaacson. "This is really encouraging and the like-for-like growth in marketed tonnage shows our targets for the 2006/07 year whilst ambitious are achievable."

In addition, the board of Fengrain has undertaken a strategic review of both its marketing and storage operations based at the company's Cambridgeshire headquarters. As a result the company is developing plans to expand the company's operations further through a number of initiatives which will be announced later in the year.

"A survey of members by the English Food and Farming Partnership has shown that the focused expertise of Fengrain on achieving added value and delivering high service standards is greatly valued by our members," said Mr Isaacson. "We now have a very strong platform on which to build, together with an enviable reputation across the East Anglian region. We intend to capitalise on this; developing and growing our business for the future."

Looking ahead Mr Isaacson is optimistic for the 2007 harvest "The success of our 'Fenpro' range of guaranteed price contracts means that we already have more business committed to Fengrain for next harvest than usual – we will build on this to support our future growth plans."
