Flavell favours Lodders flavour
One of the Midlands’s top private client lawyers and an expert on the tax treatment of landed estates has joined Warwickshire law firm Lodders as a partner.
Ian Flavell, who is praised for his expertise in industry guides The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners joins from Birmingham-based Martineau where he spent 20 years, and where he was a partner in the private client department. He specialises in estate and tax planning, trusts and wills for owners and trustees of landed estates and for farmers and advises on heritage property.
He represents the Warwickshire Branch of the Country Land and Business Association on the London Taxation Committee and is a member of the Agricultural Law Association, the Society of Trust & Estate Practitioners and the Solicitors for the Elderly.
Lodders partner Martin Green, head of private client, said: "Ian is a most valuable addition to our team as his skills span bcth the private client and agricultural departments.

Educated at Malvern College, Exeter University and with a Masters in Agricultural Law from De Montford University, he lives in Grendon, near Atherstone in Warwickshire, where he is married with twin sons and a daughter.
He said: "I have enjoyed my time at Martineau over two decades but I have known and respected Lodders for many years, and have watched their private client division grow into one of the largest of its kind in the region.
"I already feel at home here, as I am joining several of my colleagues who were previously at Martineau, private client partner Stephen Brignull, who was one of my trainees there, and property partners Nick East and Mark Lee.
