Focus on successful establishment at Tillage
Tillage 2006, sponsored by De Sangosse, is the UK's premier event to see the very best cultivation equipment in action and takes place on Tuesday October 10 at Burghill Farms, Brechin, Angus. Returning this year to Scotland, Tillage will be a chance for growers in the area to focus on all aspects of successful crop establishment.
"Whether you're looking for ideas on how to reduce establishment costs or considering a change to autumn cultivation regimes – something bigger or just replacing like for like – Tillage 2006 is the ideal venue to see the kit in action or talk to manufacturers," points out event organiser Duncan Russell, from the Agricultural Engineers Association.
The latest and most innovative cultivation kit from all the major manufacturers will be working in large plots at the event, where their field-work can be fully assessed. "Tillage is also a great opportunity to see many of the latest tractors in action, to help you narrow down your machinery replacement decisions," adds Mr Russell.
In addition to the working plots there is an opportunity to view many services for the progressive arable farmer. Event sponsor De Sangosse will be on hand to offer advice on control options for slugs – a major threat to successful crop establishment – as well as the company's leading range of adjuvants and root development products.
Tillage offers the chance to talk to tyre manufacturers about effective use of horsepower, while other exhibitors will be demonstrating field mapping solutions for fertiliser and nutrient application. "These are just a few of the many services on offer in the static area," comments Mr Russell.

Tillage is open to visitors from 8:00am to 3:00pm, entry is £10 per car or £5 for single occupancy. To get there just follow the signs from all major roads to the event.
