Food and Farming at flagship show

The National Year of Food and Farming will be celebrated in Masterchef style at this year's South of England Show.

Top catering guru Kathryn Seal will team up with head chef Kevin Love – both key figures in the award-winning company Lime Food Design – to stage cookery demonstrations throughout the three-day show.

The culinary coup chimes perfectly with the ideals of Food and Farming Year as show organisers promote the link from field to fork and showcase the best of British food and drink.

Demonstrations will feature locally sourced produce – particularly produce on sale at the show – and chef Kevin will also recommend local wines to accompany his dishes.

Deborah Barber, Director of the South of England Agricultural Society, said: "We have always been determined to practise what we preach, and it is especially pertinent in this National Year of Food and Farming.

"We always promote the link between agriculture and the food on our plate, and these cookery demonstrations will reinforce that – as well as being great fun. We are delighted to welcome the Lime Food Design team to the show."

Kevin is head chef and Kathryn the founding director at the Littlehampton-based company. It was created to fill the gap for a London-influenced caterer in the South East using top quality, locally sourced ingredients. Lime Food Design has won several industry awards and was a National Business Award finalist last year.

There will be three demonstrations on each day of the show, which promises to be another blockbusting success.

Agriculture and the preservation of the country's rural heritage remain at the heart of the event, and visitors will see prize-winning livestock, country pursuits and world-class show jumping.

Children have a chance to get up close and personal with a range of farmyard animals, and a new Pig Village promises to be a big hit – with "Piggy Pranks", a madcap four-legged obstacle course, on the first two days of the show.

Marquee exhibitions are always a big draw – notably the stunning floral arrangements in the Flower Marquee and the superb exhibits in the Young Craftsman of the Year competition.

Entertainment is on hand for young and old, from strolling players to the spectacular displays in the main arena. This year the thrills and spills include the Adrenaline Tour motorcycle stunt show and Titan the robot performing around the showground.

The show will be held on June 5, 6 and 7 at the South of England showground, Ardingly. For more information, and details of ticket sales, call 01444 892700 or visit the website: www.southofenglandshow.org.uk
