Nigeria once prided itself as the food basket in West African sub-region due to its natural disposition but today depends heavily on importation for domestic food consumption for its populace.

No thanks to the progressive decline and retrogressive policies of successive administrations in the country, who fail to implement agricultural policies for long-term benefits.

But no country of the world can boast of genuine economic growth with a dependent and malnourished population.

This year's celebration of the World Food Day which came up recently, has however, generated incisive debates among experts in the Nigerian agricultural sector, especially over the possibility of achieving the yet elusive 'Food Security' a global phenomenon which is the desire of every promising nation.
