Expanding its business in Somerset will remain a key focus for rural insurance firm Cornish Mutual with the appointment of a new Inspector - the third in 18 months for the county.
Stuart Hornigold (pictured) has joined the company’s locally-based specialist team to cover the north and east of the county, from Weston-Super-Mare to Bath and down to Frome and Shepton Mallet
The area was previously managed by Inspector Nick Howe, who will now be focusing solely on the central Somerset areas around Bridgwater, Wells and Langport.
Stuart started working for Cornish Mutual in April and completed his induction and training programme in June. Along with his fellow Insurance Inspectors Nick Howe, Joff Von Tyszka and Andy Grossey he will help to grow the business in the county, as well as providing Cornish Mutual’s high level of service to current Members.
Stuart (41), who lives in Banwell with his wife and children, has worked in the insurance industry for more than 20 years and says he can’t wait to develop his new area and welcomes the opportunity given to him by Cornish Mutual.
’The best thing about the job is going out and meeting people face-to-face. My last job was office based, so it’s a welcome change to be spending time outdoors, visiting farms and going to markets.
’I’m confident that my work with Cornish Mutual will be very varied, challenging and interesting. I get to go somewhere different every day and I’ve already met some interesting people.’
Stuart previously worked for South Gloucestershire-based insurance company the Europa Group, where he managed the insurance broker department for nine years.
His training and induction period has involved travelling around Somerset visiting farmers and getting to know some of the local people with his new colleagues.
Stuart said: ’North Somerset is really a new area for Cornish Mutual as Nick is based in Bridgwater, so I’m concentrating on making myself known to the local people, going to farmers markets and generally getting out there, so we can develop our presence and continue building the long term relationships we pride ourselves on with current and prospective Members.’
