Ben Morris, 24, and Ed Whately, 25, joined GEA Farm Technologies in February as part of a major programme to raise the profile and support to its first automatic milking system, known as MIone.
Ed, who was raised on a mixed farm in south Shropshire, qualified as an agricultural engineer at Harper Adams in 2009 and became a technical service specialist for harvesting equipment at Agco. Ed said: "Milking robots are the future of the dairy farming industry and I’m looking forward to working with this cutting edge technology."
Ben, whose family runs a dairy farm with 140 jersey cows in North Yorkshire, qualified as an agricultural engineer at Harper Adams in 2009 and became a development engineer at Chafer Sprayers. Ben added: "This is our opportunity to work for a progressive forward thinking organisation and help shape the future of the dairy industry at a time when getting the most from a herd without compromising on quality is of the upmost importance."
Kevin Preece, Technical Consultant at GEA Farm Technologies, said: "I’ve been working with the MIone both in the UK and Europe for 3 years and have seen the benefits it can bring to farms. Ben and Edgar will be a great asset to the team and will be incremental to the programme going forward."
The MIone automatic milking system offers high milk quality combined with optimum cow comfort with its proven milking technology.
