Glamorgan farmers donate £1,000 to two charities chosen by NFU Cymru

Glamorgan farmers have donated £1,000 to two charities chosen by NFU Cymru County Chairman, Abi Reader.

Velindre Cancer Centre and the Farm Community Network have both received £500 donations from the county branch.

Abi Reader, Glamorgan NFU Cymru County Chairman, expressed her sincere appreciation to all who supported the Vale of Glamorgan Show luncheon event which was held last summer prior to the county show.

Michael Locke, Fundraiser at Velindre Cancer Centre said: "Velindre Fundraising are so grateful to NFU Cymru for their continuing support.

"It’s this sort of ongoing contribution that enables Velindre Cancer Centre staff to be among the most highly trained in radiotherapy and other specialist anti-cancer treatments in the country."

Peter Riley from The Farm Community Network said: "With so many challenges facing farmers and farming families, the Farming Community Network is receiving an increasing number of calls for support.

"This generous donation will go towards ensuring that our volunteers throughout Wales are able to visit the farms wherever and whenever they are needed and can walk with farmers until their life gets back to normal.

"Whatever the problem, we are here to help. Just call 03000 111 999 or e-mail chris@fcn.org.uk."
