Go for Gold at the 2005 World Cheese Awards

More cheeses from more countries world wide than any other competition, the World Cheese Awards is the premier international cheese event and this year, will be held at IFE05, which is taking place from 13 – 16 March at ExCel, London. This marks a home-coming for the Awards, which were first held at IFE in 1987.

Now in their 18th year, the World Cheese Awards, run by The UK Cheese Guild, have gone from strength to strength, with a record number of entries received last year and over 106 Gold awards presented, along with 114 Silvers and 106 Bronzes.

On Thursday 10th March 2005, in the Pillar Hall at London’s Olympia, over 1800 cheeses from small, artisan producers up to giant multinational dairy corporations will be judged by 120 experts from around the world. Three days later, every competition cheese will be staged in the Awards area at IFE at ExCeL for visitors to taste, compare and decide if they agree with the judges’ verdicts.

Many of this year’s winning cheeses will also feature in the Cheese Tutored Tasting Theatre adjacent to the Awards area, where informative and entertaining presentations take place on each day of the exhibition. The winners of all the major trophies will be announced at a special Awards luncheon to be held on Tuesday 15th March in the Docklands Suite at the Crowne Plaza, ExCel.

“UK Cheese Guild chairman, Bob Farrand is delighted the Awards are returning to IFE. “ This truly global competition needs to be staged at a major international event,” he said. “ As our largest and most important food and drink trade exhibition, IFE offers the perfect platform.”
