Gold top sponsors best Jersey cow prize

Gold Top, the Jersey & Guernsey milk brand owned by Quality Milk Producers, which is distributed by Highgrove Food Distribution, sponsored the prize for the Champion Channel Islander Class amongst dairy cattle at The Devon County Show this month.

The winner of the Champion Channel Islander class was Murray (Farms) Ltd. S & S and the Reserve Champion prize was won by Warren, JR & SM. Keith Collins, Managing Director of Highgrove Food Distribution Ltd. commented, "We are proud to support British dairy farmers and the industry, and of course breeders of Jersey and Guernsey cows, and it is an honour to sponsor the prizes at this year's Devon County Show. Since 2002, we have worked with Quality Milk Producers to market Gold Top milk, raise the profile of the Jersey and Guernsey cows and get the brand into consumers' homes. This year, we have invested £1/2m in marketing support.

The Devon County Show was attended by 100,000 people and took place from 15th – 17th May. The show prides itself in providing visitors with a glimpse into rural life and linking consumers with farmers, food producers and others working in the countryside economy. The theme for 2008 was 'Year of Food and Farming', and hundreds of local farmers showcased their livestock and food produce.

Mr Collins added, "For Highgrove and Gold Top, this has been a great opportunity to show our commitment to the British Jersey and Guernsey dairy industry."

Gold Top milk is produced by the British dairy farmers' co-operative, Quality Milk Producers, from pedigree Jersey and Guernsey herds.

Gold Top milk is available from Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Somerfield, Co-op and Budgens.
