Winners of regional gundog tests from all over the country including North Wales, Yorkshire, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Dorset and Buckinghamshire will be heading to the Midland Game Fair, Weston Park, Shropshire on Saturday and Sunday 19 and 20 September 2009 to compete in the prestigious national finals of the Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust and Skinners Regional Gundog Events 2009 to show off their dog’s training skills.
The Gundog Working Tests and Fun Days are designed to test the working ability of gundogs in competitive conditions as many of our best loved breeds were traditionally developed to help man hunt. During these well-organized competitions, the dogs will be given an opportunity to show off their retrieving and gundog skills through ability tests and specifically designed exercises.
At the regional events the 1st to 4th winning dogs in all four classes (open class, novice and dog/novice handler, special puppy) will be awarded a range of prizes including rosettes, award certificates and Skinners dog food goodie bags. Prizes at the national finals will include: Open class – The Skinners Trophy, Novice Class – The Kilpen Novice Trophy, Novice Dog/ Novice Handler – The Weston Park Trophy and Puppy class – The Kissingtree Cup.
The qualifiers from each of the six regional heats will automatically be entered into the national finals at the Midland Game Fair, Weston Park, Shropshire on Saturday and Sunday 19 and 20 September 2009. All competitors for the finals will be provided with a free ticket for the Game Fair and a convenient parking space. The Game & Wildlife Conservation Trust and Skinners Regional Gundog Working Tests and Fun Days are extremely popular events in the sporting calendar and are being held at the following venues:
