Hunting proposed suspension supported by NFU

Today's news of a proposed suspension on the ability to hunt with hounds has been supported by NFU Cymru.

NFU Cymru recognises that at this stage it is only a proposed suspension whilst legal proceedings are in hand and so will continue in its long term goal of ensuring that this method of pest control, which is absolutely critical in Wales, is not lost.

Dafydd Jarrett, NFU Cymru Farm Policy Advisor said, "Although pest control is an all year round operation, Spring is always a critical time for sheep farmers when young lambs are born. Any reduction in the ability of a shepherd to reduce lamb losses from fox predation will have a devastating effect on the profitability of individual farms."
