Improving profit by tackling nutrition

South Wales farmers are set to benefit from hands on practical advice on how best to feed their dairy cows.

The specialist dairy health event will see industry experts Bryn Davies and James Husband cover a number of nutritional topics. The importance of cow management during the transition period will come under the spotlight as well as the role of nutrition in improving dairy herd fertility.

Dairy health events officer Dylan Jones said: "Production costs have increased dramatically over the winter period and therefore I’m sure that many farmers are keen to learn about how making changes to feeding regimes can see profit margins improve by up to 2ppl.

"By attending this event farmers will be able to share their experiences as well as taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge that these high calibre speakers bring with them."

The event will take place at Usk College, Usk, Monmouthshire on 3 March, 2011 at 11am. Also present at the event will be a variety of dairy health trade stands including feed suppliers and nutritionists.
