ABATTOIR TO CLOSE.

The biggest abattoir in India at Mumbai, is to stop exporting.

The Deonar abattoir, exports about 60% of its production of sheep and goats, to the Middle East.

The plant has been operating for 20 years, the animals are still slaughtered manually in small bays, which are not up to export health requirements.

After extensive renovation, the abattoir will be used solely for the domestic market.
