Indonesia-Australian beef imports.
INDONESIA-Boosting Australian beef sales in Indonesia
Indonesia is an important growing market for the Australian meat and livestock industry. For many years it has been a major live cattle export destination and with a strong economy and infrastructure developments, Australian beef exports are rapidly increasing. "With live cattle and boxed beef serving growing demand in this market, it’s making good sense for MLA’s live trade and boxed beef teams to join forces where they can pursue the common goal of raising Indonesian beef consumption," said Dr Peter Barnard, MLA General Manager of International Markets and Economic Services. At the heart of the approach is to increase demand for beef of which consumption in Indonesia is only 2kg per person per year – equivalent to what the average Australian consumes in just three weeks.
