Interactive EBLEX on show

Ultrasound scanning, ewe and ram MOTs and the new EBLEX website will be among the attractions on the EBLEX stand at this year’s Sheep Event.

With numerous interactive tools and demonstrations covering everything from breeding and fertility to selection for slaughter, the stand is not to be missed.

Producers can get an insight into how Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) can be used to buy breeding stock. An ultrasound demonstration will show how recorded stock are scanned and explain the reasons why, and there will also be a CT scanning demonstration.

Visitors will have the opportunity to take part in the National Lamb Selection Competition, and try their hand at classifying carcases in the Lamb Classification Challenge.

A vet will be available to discuss a range of health and fertility issues, including how to carry out a ewe and ram MOT, and how to deal with common problems such as worm control, liver fluke and lameness.

Finally, producers can pick up some tips on how to improve their grassland management and test their grass identification skills using a computer-based quiz.

"The Sheep Event is one of the key dates in the EBLEX calendar as it’s a great opportunity to interact with sheep producers using the resources we have available," said Chris Lloyd, EBLEX Industry Development Manager.

"With such a wide range of subjects being covered on the stand, there is bound to be something of interest to everyone."
