Ireland-Farmers beef about Tesco.

IRELAND.

FARMERS COMPLAIN OVER TESCO.

Tesco supermarket chain, have enraged Irish farmers over their demand for compensation in relation to the pork re-call in December.

There was an estimated US$150 million worth of meat removed from supermarkets shelves and destroyed, as a direct result of the re-call.

Tesco have written to suppliers demanding payment of compensation within 30 days, according to a report in the Irish Times.

Tesco have defended the move according to the Meat Trades Journal, saying this is normal business practice and not cashing in on government compensation, as is being alleged by the farmers of Ireland.
