John Deere launch 9620 tractor

Offering even greater levels of power and performance, John Deere's newest 9020 Series 4WD articulated tractor, the 500hp 9620, is now the most powerful tractor ever produced by the company. It joins the existing 375hp 9320, 425hp 9420 and 450hp 9520 models.

Each can be fitted with large, high performance 800/70R38 single tyres, as well as duals, and is also available in a tracked version with track widths of 760 and 900mm (30 and 36in).

All four models feature the same fuel efficient, high torque 12.5 litre turbocharged PowerTech engine, which features a unit injection system with electronic engine control giving instant response to changing field conditions.

The tractors employ a new, rugged, 18 speed Automatic PowerShift transmission, which can be set to shift automatically whether in the field or on the road. In addition, Field Cruise engine control allows the driver to maintain constant engine rpm and ground speed for specific operations, such as seeding, fertilising or light tillage.

All models share the same spacious, comfortable CommandView cab. This offers a large interior space, with nearly 6m2 of tinted glass and a one-piece front windshield giving an unobstructed, panoramic view. Optional Active Seat suspension on the articulated models compensates for vertical tractor movement, so the driver experiences a smoother, safer ride.

All the major tractor functions are incorporated to the driver's right on the CommandARM armrest control panel, which swivels around with the fully adjustable seat, keeping all the controls within easy reach. The secondary monitoring and instrumentation systems, including John Deere's exclusive TouchSet hydraulic controls, are located on a further right hand side panel.

The CommandARM provides fingertip control of the engine throttle, Automatic PowerShift transmission, hydraulic levers, optional three-point hitch, Implement Management System (IMS) and Hitch Slip Command (HSC). The articulated hydrostatic steering allows a turning angle of 42o and a turning radius of 4.45m.

Lift capacity is up to 8350kg with the optional category 3 three-point hitch, and there is the further option of a 1000rpm fully independent pto.

All the routine daily service points are at ground level, and there is a special Service Advisor outlet in the cab that provides easy access to the tractor operating system. John Deere service technicians can use the new Service Advisor computerised diagnostic programme to quickly identify problems and provide fast, on the spot solutions when necessary.

Extra options include high intensity xenon lights for night work, and a Field Office storage compartment for documents and other items, plus wiring and an antenna mounting socket for computers, mobile telephones and two-way radios.

All 9020 Series wheeled and tracked models are compatible with GreenStar precision farming systems and other advanced technologies offered under John Deere's Agricultural Management Solutions (AMS) banner, including the AutoTrac assisted steering system.
