Joice and Hill has appointed Simon Bowden as its new Sales Director, with the poultry sector specialist set to take over from Peter Cumbers later this year.

Mr Bowden, who currently serves as Area Technical Sales Manager for Mid-West and Wales, joined the company in 2022 after moving from Potters Poultry.

His previous role involved pullet sales, technical service and aftercare, giving him experience across both the commercial and technical sides of the poultry sector.

Joice and Hill Managing Director Nick Bailey said: “I am confident Simon will be a popular choice amongst customers and colleagues alike. The continuity he will offer is invaluable in a sector that regularly throws up unexpected challenges”

Mr Bowden’s involvement in farming and poultry began at an early age. From the age of 12, he regularly worked after school for G&K Craddock & Son, which operated as a contract rearer for Lloyds.

After leaving school, he studied at Sparsholt College near Winchester, where he gained a degree in Aquaculture and Fishery Management.

Following graduation, he worked freelance for his parents and for Craddocks before travelling and working in Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

On returning to the UK, Mr Bowden moved back into farming and poultry, rejoining Craddocks and eventually progressing to manage a 240,000-bird site.

He later left the business to join Potters Poultry before moving to Joice and Hill in 2022.

Speaking about his new position, Mr Bowden said: “Whatever challenges lie ahead, the combination of proven birds, a great sales team and technical back up at the hatchery makes me confident we can continue to grow our market share”

His appointment will see him succeed Peter Cumbers as Sales Director later this year, providing continuity within Joice and Hill’s commercial team as the business looks to build its position in the poultry market.
