Land use on agenda in Clwyd NFU

Bernard Llewellyn, NFU Cymru’s Rural Affairs Board Chairman, will be the guest speaker at Clwyd NFU Cymru county meeting at the Brookhouse Mill, Denbigh on Thursday, 10 June 2010, at 7.30pm.

Bernard Llewellyn, who is also a member of the Land Use and Climate Change sub-group of the Climate Change Commission for Wales will brief members about the findings of the sub-group, which were published in a report in March 2010. The report outlined several scenarios although its favoured approach was to seek to maintain Wales’ food production whilst taking measures to reduce emissions.

Welsh farmers are aware that climate change is to be a major challenge for Wales’ agricultural industry in the future and farmers are likely to bear the brunt of many of the consequences.
