Leading crop storage specialist doubles its factory space

Farm Electronics Limited, the UK crop storage specialist has increased its factory space at Grantham to improve production efficiency and meet the positive demand for its products.

An additional new storage and product assembly building has been built. The new building, approximately 21m x 23m, provides the company with an extra 480 sq metres - which is a very useful addition to its 700 sq metres of production space.

Having suffered for many years from lack of production space in its main factory Farm Electronics jumped at the chance to buy an adjacent plot of land and now the company is looking forward to the benefits of the expansion in 2006.

“The new facility will effectively increase our production capacity by a huge percentage. The main advantage will be in providing storage space for materials in advance of production and for completed machines awaiting despatch. It means we will be able to ask for deliveries in advance of the planned date and assemble the machines ahead of schedule rather than squeezing all the work into the last few days prior to the requested delivery date,” said Bill Leslie, Farm Electronics’ managing director.

In the 1980's Farm Electronics operated from a small workshop in the village of Welby near Grantham when turnover was measured in tens of thousands. Production swiftly outgrew the original workshop and the company, today an acknowledged specialist manufacturer in a world market, moved to its present location in 1990.

Demand continued to grow from throughout the UK, France and from further a field and now multiple systems are operating as far away as Egypt and New Zealand and company turnover today is measured in millions rather than thousands.
