Livestock to Compete at Region’s Premier Show

The decision to go ahead with competitive livestock classes at the East of England Show has been made by an overwhelming majority. The Show, run by the East of England Agricultural Society, has prided itself on its long heritage of great livestock classes, and as this is the Show's fortieth anniversary at the Alwalton Showground it was felt to be more important than ever that the classes continued this year.

The Chairmen and Committee members of the Cattle, Sheep, Goat and Pig sections made this decision, which in light of the current Blue Tongue restrictions, only allows the Society to attract exhibitors from within the protection zone.

Andrew Mercer, Chief Executive of the Agricultural Society, is extremely pleased to be going ahead with the classes, and welcomes new and existing exhibitors from within the protection zone. "The Livestock classes are an integral part of the show and it would be catastrophic without them" says Mr Mercer.

The East of England Show is on the 13th, 14th and 15th June 2008 at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.
