Local branch of RABI charity set to host a series of spring fundraising events
The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) County Durham Committee has just announced a series of Spring Events with the support of H&H Land and Property.
There will be a ‘Spring into Spring’ Ladies Evening held at Headlam Hall Hotel on Friday 1st April, the renowned Singing Farmers will be performing at Teesdale School on 6th May and concluding the spring calendar will be the RABI Golf Day at Headlam Hall Hotel on 25th May. All events will be sponsored by local land agency H&H Land and Property.
Tim Sedgewick, Chairman of the RABI County Durham Committee, commenting on the exciting series of events, said: “We are delighted to have three such fantastic events lined up for the spring season, where we know there is something for everyone. We feel it is very important to keep the fundraising for such a renowned charity on-going. It is with this fundraising, and the support of companies such as H&H Land and Property, who sponsor the events, that we can continue to help local farming families who have fallen on hard times and raise awareness of what we do.”
At the ‘Spring into Spring’ Ladies Evening there will be a host of demonstrations by local businesses including the Durham Distillery who produce the fantastic Durham Gin and Vodka and Weardale Cheese and Chocolate Fayre from Barnard Castle with a trio of premium products. Conducting the evening will be Nigel Wilson who is the Area Sales Manager for Zetor UK. Nigel will be swapping his sales calculator for a microphone in his role as Master of Ceremonies for the fun-filled event. The event, which is one not to miss, is priced at £20 per person, which includes Prosecco and canapes throughout the evening for guests.
Sally Conner, the Regional Manager for RABI North East said: “This is an evening where the girls will have all the fun with prosecco, cheese and chocolate and the men will do all the work! I have the chaps on the committee lined up to serve the canapés throughout!”

The Singing Farmers are returning to delight audiences, with their mix of country and folk music, for the final time ever on their farewell tour. The RABI concert on 6th May is the start of this tour, and all proceeds on the night will be donated to RABI. Tickets are £14, and to purchase contact Chris Berry on 07855 992834.
For supporters of RABI, and for those keen on fundraising in the great outdoors, the 25th May will see the RABI committee return to Headlam Hall Hotel for their fundraising Golf Day. Last year’s tournament was heralded as a great success, and for those wishing to try out their ‘golfing’ skills teams of four are invited to enter. Tim adds: “It will be excellent to welcome the Singing Farmers back to County Durham but also sad that the performance is part of their farewell tour. We are looking to grow our golf day at Headlam Hall Hotel. All team members had a great afternoon which also provided quite a good networking event.”
The RABI Durham Committee continues to work on new and exciting events to raise awareness of what the RABI can provide and also provide a social element for farming people.
