Local farmers invited to quiz prospective MPs in Wales

Farmers in Wales are being urged to attend a hustings meeting with prospective MPs, from the main political parties for the constituency, ahead of the General Election on 7 May 2015.

Jonathan Wilkinson, Montgomeryshire NFU Cymru County Chairman said, “Whilst the majority of farming issues are now determined by devolved Government there are still some important aspects determined by Westminster. With a general election looming and the possibility that we could be facing a very different political landscape, the prospective candidates now have the opportunity to set out their stall and justify why they are the best candidate for Montgomeryshire.

“This meeting is open to all members and I hope to see a good turnout, so please encourage you friends and neighbours to come along, as it gives our members the opportunity to test the awareness amongst the candidates of the main issues affecting our agricultural industry.”

Walter Simon, Pembrokeshire NFU Cymru County Vice-Chairman said, “Whilst the majority of farming issues are now determined by devolved Government there are still some important aspects determined by Westminster.
