NEW BEEF COMPLEX.
A new state of the art meat cutting and packing plant. was opened last week at the abattoir in Marsa on the island of Malta..
The opening was officiated by the Ambassador of Italy and the Minister of Rural Affairs in Malta.
The Minister explained, that prior to the opening of the new complex that meat was only available in carcass form, now the butchers and supermarkets can buy selected primal cuts.
The complex that cost US$1 million was built with Italian expertise and engineers.
Malta can now maximize animals from local production, as opposed to importing primal cuts from Italy and Sicily.
Full BSE regulations are in force on the Island and the plant is export approved for EU countries.
