Malting barley market report

Stuart Shand, sales director, Gleadell Agriculture reports: "The market remains quiet in the UK with little demand from Maltsters for either 2008 or 2009 crop. It is a similar story in the EU, although there are one or two trade FOB buyers which equates to around £125-130 ex-farm for Tipple depending on the currency on the day.

"Growers are advised to take advantage of the cold weather by blowing their grain whenever conditions are favorable. This helps prevent infestation," he added.
