May collective machinery sale a success

The May 28 collective machinery sale at Stone, near Kidderminster was the biggest and most successful to date, say auctioneers Halls.

"An increasing entry of farm machinery has been attracted since the sale moved to the new site on Stanklyn Lane in 2008," said Daniel Lovatt, a director of Halls based in Kidderminster. "The sales attract a huge attendance of farmers and machinery dealers, which ensures strong demand and competitive bidding."

Top prices for four wheel drive tractors at the May auction were £11,400 for a W registration John Deere 6010, £11,300 for a 2004 McCormick CX95, £9,400 for a Case CX100 and £6,400 for a Deutz DX7.10.

Other leading prices were £3,800 for aYuchia 1.3T 360 degree mini digger, £3,400 for a JCB Rough Terrain forklift, £2,900 for an A registration Matbro Teleram, £2,600 for a Renault 681.S 2wd tractor and £1,820 for a John Deere 630 2wd tractor.

A vintage Ransoms MG5 Crawler created huge interest before selling for £600.

Around 200 lots of farm machinery and effects were sold together with an extra 50 lots of new agricultural spares. There was a strong seasonal trade in harvesting machinery, including £1,200 for a New Holland 370 baler, £800 for an International 440 baler, £750 for a 3m heavy duty flail and £700 for an Agrimaster folding flail mower. Haybobs sold to a top of £900.

The auction, which also includes sections for garden machinery, building materials, timber, workshop tools and sundries, is held on the last Friday of the month.
