Mexico remains largest importer of US beef
Mexico remains the largest buyer of American beef, since the boycott of US beef by Japan and South Korea in 2003.
In roads are being made back into Japan, far more successfully than in South Korea.
Mexico purchased 339,137 tons of beef for the first 10 months of 2008, this figure dropped off in October due to financial restraints only.
South Korea took 15,561 tons of beef in October, however most of this beef was shipped on spec and went into storage.
Russia took 6,929 tons of beef in October, and has purchased 43,671 tons for the first 10 months of the year. This trade has come to a complete standstill in the last 5 weeks.
When the Russian beef market re-appears, you can be certain that the South American countries are going to be the first cabs off the rank.
