MP calls for help for struggling hill farmers

A NORTH-EAST MP wants One NorthEast, the regional development agency, to provide emergency funding for struggling hill farmers.

Helen Goodman, MP for Bishop Auckland, made her call after witnessing depressed livestock prices at Middleton in Teesdale auction mart in County Durham.

She said: "I saw that prices were down 20-25per cent on last year, which is a real terms loss of 30per cent.
