QUOTA PROBLEMS.

Outside of Australia and New Zealand the meta industry has no comprehension of the boneless mutton trade.

There is no such thing as minced mutton in Europe as in Australia, or the taking of primal cuts from the legs of mutton.

Namibia has a quota for 13,000 tons of mutton a year to the EU, yet are complaining that they cannot ship carcass meat.

What they don’t seem to realize is that if the mutton was boned into primal cuts, they would in fact make more money than in carcass form.

The Agricultural minister was speaking at the 17 th World Meat Congress in Cape Town a few weeks ago.

Hopefully one of the Australian or NZ delegates, took him to one side after the speech and explained the benefits of keeping the bones at home.
