North East Truck & Van (NETV), the largest independent Iveco distributor in the UK, has supplied Dairy Farmers of Britain with a fleet of 14 Stralis Active Time tractor units.
Supplied by NETV's dealership in Blaydon, near Newcastle, the order was won following the supply of a Stralis demonstrator, which was trialled on a typical Dairy Farmers of Britain's operation.
Mike Beaty, National Fleet Manager at Dairy Farmers of Britain explains: "We recently trialled the Stralis in Whitby to see how it performed with the steep ascents which are common in this area. Feedback from the driver was very positive, and the high levels of power and torque from the Cursor 10 litre engine were more than sufficient at 44 tonnes.
"The Stralis' are proving to be a real asset to the fleet, with the drivers appreciating the spacious and comfortable cabs, and the automated EuroTronic transmission," he adds.
The delivery of these new vehicles cements a long-term business relationship with Dairy Farmers of Britain, which has seen NETV supply vehicles ranging from 3.5 tonne vans through to maximum weight tractor units into its 1,300-strong fleet. NETV also undertakes major servicing work for Dairy Farmers of Britain, and supplies genuine Iveco parts into its own workshops.

In operation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Stralis AT440S43TX/P 6x2 tractor units work in conjunction with tri-axle refrigerated trailers delivering finished products from the company's dairies to its network of 60 depots nationwide. Goods are then delivered to various retail outlets using a fleet comprised largely of Eurocargos with refrigerated bodies.
The Stralis' have been supplied on a three year operating lease from Iveco Finance combined with a full Costcare repair and maintenance contract. Expected to cover up to 200,000 km a year, they replace a fleet of 8 – 10 year old Seddon Atkinsons, which had been supplied by NETV in the mid 1990's.
