Never fewar the taxman

Taxation experts will help farmers and growers fathom the complex tax laws affecting their businesses, at a forthcoming NFU seminar.

Tax boffins Phil Bruce-Moore from NFU Mutual and Jane Goold of leading accountants James and Cowper will address NFU members at Agriculture House, Stanton Harcourt, Eynsham, Oxfordshire on September 16 (19.00hrs).

The chair of the NFU in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, Marilyn Ivings, urges fellow farmers and growers to attend.

She says:"It may seem ironic to be talking about tax after the harvest we have had. But this is a great opportunity for farmers and growers to tackle tax instead of burying their heads in the sand. If you shrink at the words self assessment, stamp duty and inheritance tax, then this seminar should help you get to grips with these issues. With a little bit of help, you can ensure that the taxman only gets what's due to him!"

The speakers will cover everything from the tax implications of Common Agricultural Policy Reform to changes to Stamp Duty and compliance with SDLT laws for farming partnerships.
